According to statistics from the China Machine Tool Industry Association, the export value of abrasives and grinding tools in January-June 2023 was US$1.99 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 11.56%, and the import value was US$290 million, a year-on-year decrease of 23.68%, achieving a trade surplus of US$1.7 billion. In the first half of 2022, the import volume of grinding tools decreased by 3.55% year-on-year, and the import value decreased by 5.33% year-on-year. The export volume of grinding tools decreased by 8.08% year-on-year, and the export value decreased by 2.29% year-on-year. From January to September 2024, the export value of cutting tools was 18.987 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.64%, and the import value was 6.358 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1.88%; the export value of measuring tools and measuring instruments was 1.565 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.54%, and the import value was 984 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 16.39%, but no separate mention of relevant data on industrial alloy grinding heads.
From the perspective of the main import and export countries and regions of abrasives and grinding tools, China's abrasives and grinding tools products are mainly exported to Vietnam, the United States, India and other places, and imports mainly come from Japan, South Korea and the United States.
Some companies that produce grinding heads also export products to New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Europe and other countries and regions. In addition, the Philippines is also one of the export markets for Chinese grinding tools, and imported products include precision grinding heads.
Taking India as an example, in the export data of China's abrasives and grinding tools products in 2022, India ranked first in the purchase of resin grinding wheels, accounting for 22.9% of the top ten countries; India ranked first in the purchase of artificial diamonds, accounting for 25.51% of the top ten countries; India ranked third in the purchase of other corundum, accounting for 11.26% of the top ten countries; India ranked third in the purchase of brown corundum, accounting for 7.88% of the top ten countries; silicon carbide ranked sixth, accounting for 3.91% of the top ten countries. However, this is not a special data for industrial alloy grinding heads, and it can only reflect the situation of some Chinese abrasive products in the Indian market from the side.
In addition, according to the export data of uncoated blades from January to September 2024, the main export destinations are Russia (16.24%), the United States (8.53%), India (7.91%), etc. This is also somewhat different from the export situation of China's industrial alloy grinding heads, but it can to a certain extent explain that some related Chinese products have a certain share in the US, India and other markets.
